Hi all! I am going to use this space to post excerpts from my upcoming book, which will show you everything you need to create a designed garden that will thrive, while working on a budget and keeping the physical labor to a minimum.
I started my business wanting to make the greatest positive impact I can on our environment, and what I’ve realized is that the biggest barrier to this goal is the cost of the work. Hiring someone to design and install is out of most peoples’ budget. It certainly isn’t a luxury I could afford. Even doing the work yourself can be costly, if you don’t know all the info to stretch your dollars the furthest.

I have grown up being thrifty, making do with what I could get my hands on for free or cheap, cobbling things together to build what I need, and that’s what I do with my own gardens at home. That is the 3rd part of what I am going to teach you.
The second part is how to properly choose a collection of plants that will thrive and multiply in your space. This info is based on scientific sources detailing natural plant communities as seen in the wild, edited down to what is easiest to grow and is commercially available to buy. (I’m still working on this part! It’s been months of work of translating Latin, understanding specific environmental conditions, and cross-referencing highest impact plants and nursery availability, and laying it out in a rubric so you can choose by bloom time/color, shape/size of plant, and planting layer. Whew! Aren’t you glad you’re not the one doing all this research?!)
The first part of the book will show you how to see your space and the nature within it, with new eyes. To best make a great garden, you need to be able to see what your patch of nature already is, what life its supporting, what functions it’s serving, and then figure out how you can make it even better.
I’ll be updating as often as I can. I’m so glad to have you all accompany on my journey creating this book, and I hope my book will be an enjoyable and enlightening guide for you on your gardening journey.
